Bella’s Halloween Navy
Under the deep navy blue night sky, there was a girl walking along a path illuminated by diamonds scattered like stars. She followed a pumpkin ghost glowing in a light purple hue, blending with the brightest backdrop of the world.
Bella wanted to tug at the pumpkin ghost’s cape. Its cape sparkled like a galaxy, and her eyes were drawn to it, wanting to hold onto it.
However, Bella was a timid child and worried about disappointing the pumpkin ghost, who was the owner of her own little galaxy. So she only lightly pulled at the cape and continued to follow behind the pumpkin ghost.
Bella’s time following the sparkling light of the galaxy in the pumpkin ghost’s cape didn’t seem to pass by much. After a while, she arrived at the village of the pumpkin ghost, where the various colors of light captivated her eyes and made it impossible for her to look away.
It seemed like the light in the village shone even brighter than the sparkling light from the galaxy in the pumpkin ghost’s cape.
However, Bella soon realized that the sparkling light from the cape and the light in the village, although different in color, were both shining in the same manner.
The pumpkin ghost tried hard to remember what happened in the past but couldn’t recall anything. It was now just a rule passed down, a mix of legends and rumors for no apparent reason.
As the pumpkin ghost arrived at the pumpkin ghost village, they quickly parted ways with the child and headed towards their own home. However, the child persistently followed and eventually reached the doorstep of the pumpkin ghost’s house.
‘Pumpkin ghost, you can’t go without me, right? That’s right, isn’t it?’
‘Why aren’t you saying anything?’
‘Don’t leave me here alone.’
The child spoke a few words to the pumpkin ghost, but with no response, they quickly gave up and decided to explore the pumpkin ghost village on their own.
The pumpkin ghost contemplated whether they should hide the child’s presence or leave them behind.
But realizing that it was Halloween season and there were no other pumpkin ghosts in the village, they quietly observed the child wandering around the pumpkin ghost village.
Bella looked at the pumpkin ghost village, pondering where to go. No matter where she went, the village was adorned with sophisticated lights that would surely captivate her gaze.
After briefly organizing her thoughts, Bella became mesmerized by a light that resembled the pumpkin ghost’s eyes, and she decided to follow that light as if she were under its spell.
Bella, who had arrived inside the cave, discovered a large pile of scrap metal. As she approached and examined the pile, she realized that the metal was shaped like a butterfly made of iron.
Exploring further into the metal, Bella found a guidebook with a note stating that if she gave candy to the butterfly-shaped metal, it would safely transport her to the next planet.
Excited at the idea of riding the butterfly, Bella searched for candy but soon realized she didn’t have any. Disappointed, she was about to give up when something incredible happened right before her eyes.
Among the small, twinkling lights floating around the pumpkin ghost village, one of the lights transformed into a jewel in Bella’s hand.
Watching this scene unfold, Bella suddenly wondered if this jewel could be the candy she needed to give to the butterfly-shaped metal. Intrigued, she offered the jewel to the metal.
In that instant, the butterfly-shaped metal began to move as if it were about to depart. Not wanting to lose the butterfly, Bella quickly boarded and settled herself in a chair that looked like a cargo seat.
Entrusting herself to the departing butterfly, Bella recalled that the twinkling lights around the pumpkin ghost village turned into jewels when held in her hand.
Chapter.1
That day’s truth.
The fact that the stars twinkling in front of her turned into jewels when held in her hands was extremely fascinating to Bella. She continued to replay the scene she had just witnessed in her mind, trying to etch the memory into her brain. The jewel she had in her hand was no longer there after she handed it to the butterfly-shaped scrap metal. Bella tried once again to grasp the jewel in her hand, but strangely, nothing happened. Was it because she was riding the butterfly-shaped scrap metal? Bella felt a sudden desire to hurry to the next planet. Upon arriving at the next planet, she wanted to confirm whether the stars would once again turn into jewels when held in her hands.
Curious about when the butterfly-shaped scrap metal would reach the next destination, she carefully read the record she had just seen. However, the destination and arrival time were not written, leaving her in the dark. Growing impatient, Bella tried talking to the butterfly-shaped scrap metal, but, like the pumpkin ghost, it remained silent. Disappointed by the lack of response, Bella, for a moment, enjoyed the sensation of the seemingly heavy scrap metal she was riding on flying like a light bird.
Bella, who was muttering to herself for a while, noticed a harmonious dark blue and black sky ahead. Underneath that sky, different from the diamond-like lights she saw in the pumpkin ghost village, there were yellow lights that seemed to be fading, surrounded by a rich brown hue. Bella wanted to get a closer look at those lights, but the butterfly-shaped scrap metal seemed oblivious to her desires and continued flying towards the next planet. Bella observed the lights fading into the distance. From afar, the lights looked like several lines converging, forming an eye shape. In the center of the eye-shaped lights, there was an emptiness, resembling Bella’s pupils. Bella, sensing the chill in the air, suddenly became aware of her surroundings.
Examining the small ice crystals that filled the space, Bella touched them with her hands. In an instant, the ice crystals shattered easily. Even though the ice crystals shattered with each moment while riding the butterfly, the extremely fine ones didn’t cause Bella any pain or evoke any sensation. Only the coldness was felt.
The black leopard, seeming as if it might leave at any moment, appeared not to wait for Bella. Becoming anxious, Bella spoke to the black leopard,
‘Black leopard, where are you going? Won’t you come with me?’
“…”
‘Yeah? Do you have somewhere else to go? Then I’ll come with you.’
The black leopard nodded in response to Bella’s words, then extended its back for her to mount. Before riding on the back of the black leopard, Bella reduced the size of her butterfly-shaped brooch and attached it like a brush to her clothes. She then decided to commemorate the day she met the black leopard by naming it Psyche and climbed onto its back.
